There is no place like home.....or the seventh floor!

Well, I'm back in bonny cold foggy Scotland with work again for the 9th week this year. Not feeling so great so I slept most the 4hr train journey, well, as well as you can sleep on a train. Woke up to bright sunshine over the coastline, blue sea and sky with luscious green grass and tree's, then as I went though Scotland, I watched the mist rise as the ground frost was warmed by the bright sun.

Apart from having to go to work it wasn't a bad start to the day, but then I wasn't feeling well, my fault, had an Indian the nite before and it didn't agree with me! Anyway, I was looking forward to going back to the hotel, last time (apart from the over priced, under flavored food) was rather nice, big nice bed and lovely shower.

Turns out, if your on the higher floors, you get lovely plush rooms, all done out in muted greys and plums with dark wood and subtle stripes, but if your on the floors below then you are in for a real treat!

No double rooms left so twin singles for the week, rock hard too! :(

A blindingly chintz wall of curtain that wont shut properly.

A wonky, beaten pleated lampshade.

A shower stolen from the shower rooms of a 1970's grammer school.

Furniture which seems like it was once attached to the wall, but now stands free with bare wires showing.

And I would like to point out now, that if your TV requires this much instruction, just to switch it on, then you need to get a new telly system!!!

All in all, feeling pants, hours from home, crap uncomfy bed with nothing but a crappy shower and rubbish breakfast (if my stomach can take it) to look forward too in the morning! brill!

Feel Unique Beauty Box November has arrived!!

Which is good timing as I'm working away from home next week!

Again, Good sized samples and a nice range of treats.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Natural lift and sculpt moringa cleansing balm and dual action professional cleansing cloth.
This stuff smells amazing and the packaging makes it look really expensive which all us girls love, but the cloth is also really nice as one side is muslin which acts as an exfoliator where the other side is a soft wash cloth. not something I would usually buy, but its lovely!

Schwarzkopf Professional Osis+ Dust it Mattifying powder.
Not had a chance to try this yet but I love the packaging. I bought Shwarzkopf's Got2B volumising powder and wasnt impressed, so I'm dubious about this one but I'll give it a try when I've washed my hair today! :)

Xen-Tan Deep Bronze Luxe.
Ok, so I've always been a fan of pale and beautiful, but after my Big Fat Gypsy Bride costume at Halloween, all my friends and family said that the darker colour looked fab on me so I'm pleased I got this. I have tried it but I'm assuming its a slow build up kinda thing as its meant to be dark, but I cant see a difference yet. good thing the bottle was full, this one may take a while. Smells fantastic though, caramel vanilla kinda smell! lush!

Goldwell Dualsenses Ultra Volume 60 Second Treatment.
Looking forward to trying this when I wash my hair and I'll let you know! :)

Bella Pierre Shimmer Powder.
Lovely greeny coloured powder eye shadow, I'm more of a MAC pigment kinda gal, but this is totally my sort of colour so I can seem me getting some use out of it!

Finally.....

A sample of Prada's now perfume Candy, it just smells of treats and sweeties! its lovely!!! :)

Will take the lot away with me for the week and I'll let you know more about the products after.

NYX Nude on Nude Palette

So I've been debating picking up Urban Decays Naked Palette as friends and fellow bloggers rave on about it constantly. I'm not usually one for nude colours, I tend to stick to brighter colours, but with work and getting far to close to my 30's I decided maybe I could learn a few classier, subtle daytime looks.

problem is, £35 for the UD palette is a lot to pay when your not even sure if you'll suit the colours, so when I went into my local TK Maxx and came across this little beauty for just £14!! I just couldn't resist!

The shimmer shades go on well and the glittery looking ones arnt glittery when you put them on, but they do look nice. the more matte ones are nice but I find it easier to work with more shimmer colours, I've just not mastered a powdery matte look that I have liked yet, but I suppose here is my chance to learn!

Shadows on the top, lip colours in a little draw underneath. though none of them are named on any of the packaging which is a bit disappointing as if I find one I rather like, I'm gonna have to find out what it is.

Sorry about the lighting, its already dark by the time I get home at the moment so its just the lamp in my room unfortunately, but I can do some daylight ones on a weekend if people would like to see them?

Finally the lip palette, I'm not keen on them myself. the colours are rather nice, but I like a lip colour to come out with me rather than left at home like this, UNLESS, they invented a lipstick that doesn't come off when you eat and have a drink and that never needs reapplying and if they have, I cant find it! lol

Sleek Cheeks!

Hello there my lovelies! Hope this rainy November nite finds you well?

On my way home from work today I nipped into Superdrug and impulsive lil me had to nip into see if Sleek's RoseGold blusher was in stock, but alas no hope. Seems since it was discovered it was meant to be a cracking dupe for NARS Orgasmic its never in stock when I look.

Anyway, I'm not a great one for blusher, I used to never like the look until I saw my ghostly face in photographs and decided to invest, after that I never looked back, but I have to admit, I've only ever had one or two shades, wearing the same one with every look, bit embarrassing for a make up-a-holic like moi! lol anyway, I decided to do a bit of investigating, so, after reading so much about MUA I thought how much harm can a quid a pop for a blusher be!?

I already have shade 6 which is a dead ringer for the sleek rose gold which I picked up last time I was looking for it but this time I went for 2 more pinky shades and a nice tan/bronze coloured one.

Sorry about the lighting btw...not much daylight about at the mo! well, not when I'm not at work!

From top to bottom, shade 1, 2 & 3.

Just for those interested, the other purchases were some travel stuff for a work trip next week to Glasgee, a pink crackle Barry M nail varnish to paint over yellow or turquoise, cant decide yet.

Also, I picked up Vasalines new limited edition Creme Brulee lip therapy after seeing a few blogs about it, but if I'm honest, I'm not impressed, just imagine normal vasaline smell with a slight hint of cheap toffee. Ah well, least it was only a quid!

CHECK OUT THESE BAD BOYS!!! :D

These 2 nail looks look like 2 different colours right? wrong! as you can see below, they are 2 tone colours, emerald green and a antique looking gold, as you can see in the pics below (taken before I cleaned up the edges!) in different lights it shows different colours and as you can see from the top picture, the flakes are so small and glittery it makes the glitter look so deep.

Now for the next surprise.....its not actually nail varnish!

A friend of mine paints little Warhammer models and he was showing me some of the paint effects he uses and I couldn't help thinking they would look fab on nails!!! Now...I'm not sure what they will do to your nails so I'm not planning on keeping them on long as I think its the same stuff the use to paint cars (don't worry...he sprayed them over 3 existing layers of varnish and top coat so it shouldn't do any damage) and its not entirly practical as not everyone has their own air brush at home, but wow! they look so amazing, I cant explain (or take good enough picture to show them) but I cant help but smile when I look at them!!!

Makes you wonder how hard it is to make this effect in nail varnish though!!!

October Glossybox and this weeks Graze!

Of the 2 boxes, the cheapest appeals to me more!

Looking forward to indulging in this at work til the next one comes on Wednesday!! :)

The other package that arrived today was a little less exciting, maybe it a let down after the fab stuff in my feel unique box, but the new Glossybox didn't fill me with much joy. The nail varnish is a lovely colour, but I haven't tried it and I have to admit that I've never heard of it before, though the name seems strangely familiar. Not impressed by the eyeliner that claims to have real staying power, yet rubbed straight off my hand leaving nothing but a slight bit of glitter.

I've had Dermalogica before and I have paid £30 for a full sized product so I am interested to see what they are like, but I'm not keen on 3 products from one company and the make up bag just seems cheap. I certainly wasn't impressed with the 3 fragrances, especially after having one last month (which was rather lovely, but none of these 3 really appeal).

I have to admit I was really hoping that Glossybox would recover from their bad PR after box 2 and box 3 certainly had one or 2 nice items (the HD Brows making it worth it), but this is a bit of a disappointment really. I am considering cancelling and sticking with the Feel Unique box until I find something to rival it.

MAC's Drag act!?!

Is anyone else thinking that the new MAC adverts are terrifying????

Thats hellascary!!!!

My first Feel Unique Beauty Box has arrived!

Thought I'd share some pics before I give a review of the products in side! :)

Glasgee Thistle Hotel

Went to Glasgow with work this week, stayed in the Thistle Hotel, nice room, shame about the food.
Had a nice big room, the bed was huge and I didn't wanna leave it! I've missed breakfast everyday just to lie in it longer! lol
Pretty lighting in the foyer.
The food looked really nice and was always really well presented but was very expensive and really not worth it. I'd had better food in McDonalds and I don't really like McDonalds! Had to share  lil pic just for the way the chips were presented! (sorry about the pic quality, didn't want the flash to go off in the restaurant! lol)
I did have to share some of the art work on the walls though, fab art deco pictures all down the staircase!

OPI Bargain!!!

I nipped into one of my local department stores this weekend (http://www.fenwick.co.uk/stores/york) to have a nose round with my fellow cosmetics consumed companion! otherwise known as Lydia (or Bert)!

We like to have a good nose, try not too miss anything. I didn't even realise that you can buy OPI in there, never even been down that side of the store, but Burt is on the case and knows where to get em all!

Anyway, after hunting around various stores and not finding Nail Envy any cheaper than £18, I find this lil set in Fenwick! and the price??? £18.30 for the pair!!!!

Total bargainous! Well happy! also met the loveliest Lancome consultant, she couldn't have been more helpful! and when the conversation turned to my Halloween costume, she bunged me a free sample of their most orange foundation! haha!

Also this week, I got the latest in beauty box, the one that costs £1. There wasn't much I wanted on it at the time, it seems like there is more now.

As you can see there is little luxury to the box, certainly not what you would expect from the likes of Glossybox or Boudoir Prive, but then it is a tenth of the price and you certainly get what you pay for!

The box is cheap and flimsy and the insides is literally sachets of samples, but you do get a few, as you can see, 4 each of the skin sample but just 2 of the hair product.

Below is the info of the product information that was included;

I let my mum have these samples as a little treat as she wouldn't want to fork out for the more expensive ones. She's only tried the eye cream so far, she said they were cool and refreshing and sunk into the skin easily.
